Those don't work on stock Chevy 2 barrel manifolds. There will be gaps on the sides. There are some pretty inexpensive manifolds on Ebay. Get an Edelbrock Performer RPM or Air Gap.
I think this adapter is to be used the other way around. If you have a 4v manifold and want to run a 2v carb. It helps on gas milage but racers use them because they are limited to a 2v carb, so instead of changing the intake manifold they use the adapter.
I had an 80 Ford Bronco with a 351 M motor that the PO had tried to convert to a Holley 4 BRL carb. He had replaced the manifold and fuel pump but it never ran good. I looked in the book on the truck and they stated that the heads were setup for the 2BRL carb only. I replaced the 4 brl manifold with the stock one and it ran as good as a 2 BRL carb could run. Put that 4 brl and manifold on and it was always belching black smoke.
Get a 4 barrel manifold. Cheap and lazy don't work in hotrodding. Well actually finding good deals has a place if you want to call that cheap. Past that you get what you pay for.
It works for the older model cars and trucks, but the newer models have computers, so your just asking for trouble. If it didn't work on the older models they wouldn't sell them, I put one on a friends car before and he never had a problem with it, and his car was a stock 6cyc with a 2 barrel, and the 2 barrel went up, and i had a spare 4 barrel in the shed, so we put it on his motor and it fired right up and ran, never gave him a problem.
I have used a 4 barrel adapter on a two barrel intake before, and, I will say that there was a definite performance increase. The proper manifold is the best way to do it, and the funky airflow created by the adapter will hinder the carb on the top end.
I put a 600 holley on a stock 289 ford, with the 2 barrel intake and an adapter, and it ran better. I also, believe it or not, put a quadrajet 4 barrel on a v-6 chevy in a Monza, and the difference was amazing. I would not do this now that I'm all grown up and sophisticated, but been there, done that, bought the T-shirt. Poor people have poor ways as they say.
me and a buddy did this swap 2 nites ago.. i gave him my stock sbc manifold for his 305 and sold him my Q jet said runs way better more power and all.. i havent gone for a ride in the car yet or even takin a look if hes blowing black smoke.. his motor is a 85- 305.. and mines a 80-85 350 sbc.. so the intake was a little different.. but musta bin in a good way.. your better off getting the 4 barrel manifold.. they can't be that much.. gave mine away for a couple beers... and even a stock Q jet will perform awsome.. good luck
