Carb and Intake Problems

My first question is regarding my Performer manifold and my thunder series carb. Since a carb adapter is needed to mate these two pieces together, doesn't this just comletely destroy the whole point of a dual plain manifold. The fuel mixture can now just freely flow over the devider?

My second question has to do with my carb not fitting the manifold. even though the two components are both made by edelbrock, they do not fit together. Even with the added height of my carb adapter the throttle linkage is hitting the manifold. I'm wondering if my only option is to grind down the problem area on the manifold or if there is another option.
THis is on an oldsmobile 350 if that makes any difference.

Thakns for the help.
Dave

Edelbrock performers (at least some models) are meant for stock carbs - in your case that would be for a Rochester. You may have to find another intake if you don't want to use the adapter.

Not sure what your options are with the Olds engine - looks like the Performer RPM will work with a squarebore

Square bore carbs will always work better on square bore intake and spread bore carbs will always...You get it. Though it doesn't mean you can't use them together. You might be giving up a small amount of performance somewhere but usually the gains are appreciable. I hate the fact that edie carbs don't work together very often. At least you would think the air cleaners would work right out a the box with out having to buy a fuel inlet and/or spacer. It woiuld seen edie is fixed on selling and not on craftsmanship. As far as what you can do, I haven't a clue. Grind the intake if you can to get clearance. Maybe just take off material at the linkage?
