U-joint question.......
I am replacing the u-joint in a drive shaft from a 68 firebird with an auto and the original u-joint has a hidden groove on each cap with plastic(?) injected in it to hold the u-joint in place.
Anyway, my question is....will a replacement u-joint use clips on the inside of the yolk flanges to hold the joint in place instead of the injected plastic? Any thoughts or comments will be greatly appreciated!! |

u-joint question......
Yes it will have new clips to hold it in place.
We sometimes use a torch to heat plastic up,of course be careful if you do this. In fact, melting the plastic is about the only way this u-joint will come out many times. Good luck! |

Thanks very much Barny and Briscoe for your response! I hear ya about heating the caps up. I tried for a long time with no luck until I did heat them up and then the plastic came oozing out of the little hole sorta like the little firework "snakes" we used to buy for a nickle when we were kids, hehehe.

Jimmy watching that plastic ooze out can be very therapeutic!
