U-pol Raptor Liner/ Acid Etch #8 question

I ordered the Raptor liner from U-POL for the floor of my bronco project. I have searched here and a google and couldnt get a solid answer so here goes.

The Raptor Liner kit says to spray acid etch over any bare metal before applying the Liner. ( I dont physically have the kit yet, its on the way... this is what ive read)

Well ive spent a day scuffing the floor/bed of my Bronco with 40 and 80 grit paper and have bare metal showing on the edges of the floor (pic). I have a half gallon of acid etch #8 from a previous project (bought wayy to much) and was wondering if I can just spray the entire area with acid etch 8 that will be lined with the bed coating?? Basically im asking if the acid etch 8 will adhere to the "scuffed" floor paint from the factory?? -OR- does it need to be applied to bare metal only??

it'll stick to properly preped painted surfaces (sanded and scuffed),be sure to use a wax & grease remover first.
