Unable to sand black under paint

Can anyone explain to me what I am finding under my paint? Where the rust is common, or known to happen, on my GMC I have surface rust. So I sand it, and I hit black stuff. This black stuff is unremovable. Forget sand paper or wire wheels, I am down to grinding disks on my angle grinder. I am literally ripping the metal and making steel filings to get this stuff off. I had it on the top of my cab and my door bottoms. It is under a wicked hard paint. I am assuming the truck was Red new, spot painted with some strange green paint, then the blue
all over.

I am taking the doors ( and anything else ) with this black to the sandblasters.

So is this black stuff normal?

Sounds like you're hitting some type of rust reformer / treatment. If you can't remove, epoxy primer over it.

I kicked that doors ***.!!!!WAAHHHHooooooooooOOOO!!

What ever that is, chem strip lifts it like nutting !!!!! My sandblaster decided they cannot do sheet metal. SO I took my doors home and bought stripper.

WOOOOHOOOOOO!!!! 30 minutes one door done. I was spending 30 hours on 6 inches on the bottom of one door!!!

I am so happy!!!!!! I will never sand paint off again when stripping.

Oh my
Oh my goodness!!

Maybe that rust preventer stuff does work? I would be curious to know if is POR
and why it had rust onto of it, yet not under it? I suppose the rust could have just been from the one foot deep of mouse house. Anyway, I kicked its butt!!
