unid'd door popper short in system. how to bypass?
Here's the gruesome deal. I have a power trunk that's locked tight. Power to the trunk has a dead short. I can't find the problem. My fuel cell is in the trunk and I'm running on fumes and the gas gauge doesn't work either.
When I try to open the trunk using the intended electrical switch, it pops the fuse rat now !! Sounds like a gunshot. I need to get the car home !
How can I bypass the switch, fuse box etc and open the trunk ? The are two acessible wires running from the switch to the trunk solenoid. I know that it's not a good idea but it beats the heck out of no idea (hopefully). Help !!
:welcome:Can you not go through the rear seat? Usually they have small openings behind the seat where you can probably use a screwdriver to get at the latch to trip it or if you able to find a pygmy, get him to crawl in and trip it.

i have shaved doors, shaved trunk, shaved gas door and a shaved tonneou cover on my truck
each latch has 3 ways to open it
i use bicycle brake cables and the end fittings to route safety cables through door looms and fenders
in this pic you see the door latch solenoid, above it is one of the safety cables that runs thru the door loom
the solenoid wire broke last week and i was glad i had thought this thru
