Unidentified GM engine code

I have a small block chevy that I took out of a 67 chevy 1 ton four-wheel drive. The man I bought the truck from said the motor was original. I only paid a hundred bucks for the truck so I was doubt full that I actually had the 327 I was looking for. I tried to check with the casting number (it is 3970010) which I am familiar with and realized after seeing it that it would be way to broad. I cleaned up the front of the motor and got V05I8KCD off the flat portion of the deck where the engine code is. The code seems very authentic, the numbers are in perfect line up spaced evenly does not seemed to be tampered with. They are also evenly indented into the block. I can not make any sense of this code it does not follow any of the "rules" of gm code. I realize it should be the plant then the date then the vehicle or exactly how it was used. I haven't had time to tare down the engine and check stroke dimension, but that is my next step. I would like to find out what this engine code is. If anyone has anymore info they could provide I'd much appreciate it.
Thank You
P.S. This truck could possibly be a 68, it was majorly rusted out and the steel the tag was on even rusted off. From the body, hood style it had to have been a 67 or 68 though.

Nice guy. He emailed me back about 1/2 hour later.

Let us know what he says.
