Unisteer
Perhaps someone can help. I've just installed a unisteer rack on my '32 Ford
,aftermarket frame with P&J 4'' dropped axel and 4 bar. When I turn it all the way to the right the end of the rack hits the top 4 bar on the left side of the frame. What did I do wrong? Thanks for any help. |

NO, when I turn to the right the stud that comes out the left of the rack
hits the top 4 bar. Hope this is understandable. Thanks |

DEUCE, in the picture you posted of the unisteer only ,I am sure he is talking about the boot on the left where the rack comes out to the left when turning right. I have never installed one so im sure you know more than I do,But is it possible he mounted the whole unit too far left on the frame?

One question that comes to mind - what is the perch to perch measurement? Could it be that the axle is so narrow that the 4 bar setup is too close to the frame? Also how far back from the radiator mounting hole is the Unisteer mount plate?

All the way to the right ... ![]() All the way to the left ... Look at the amount of rubber collar showing If mine came out another 5 inches or even more ... it would go between the bars ... Did you install your with the supplied bracket ? and is your frame boxed ? |

Thanks for trying to help with this. This is a new frame that came with the car. Coast to Coast body, '32 3 win coupe.,46'' Super Bell 4'' dropped axel.
I don't have the eng or trans in yet and this is my first time using a straight axel but I know that the rack shouldn't hit the upper bar. The supension was mounted when I bought it. I suppose I could could put spacers in between the rack mount and the frame but this doesn't seem right. Thanks again. |

Again thanks for the help. Took some measurments. The rack extends out
7 1/8 in, that's measuring from the rack housing to the chrome plug, left side. Center of crossmember to center of mounting brkt hole 10 1/2 in. Brkt is 1/4 in below top of frame. This is a new frame and was setup for the Vega box. Yes Deuce I have the steering stops just like yours. Apears my only option is to space the rack brkt to the right. Will this work. Thanks |

Going by memory but those measurements sound good. How about some pictures. Maybe top and side view. Might be able to spot something?
Sounds crazy but the axle is centered on the frame right? How about the caster? Again pictures would help. |

Deuces set up looks great. The problem with the theory off putting in engine and trans so rack would go through center of bars is if you turn right and are on uneven surface then it would hit. It has to stop before bars like DEUCES one. He has his done right. Keep checking and asking ??? till you find the problem, do it right the first time. As they said try to post pics this will help a lot.
