update 57 ranch wagon rack&pinion

Hi ,been off line. The stage coach makes it most every day, for that we are thankful. I have got my 57 ranch wagon very driveable. I put a 4:11 equel lock with a rear sway bar [2004 tahoao], an AOD with 351w duel feed holleySplit the manuel m/c Of course if you read my o0ld threads you will find my problems with GEARHEADS CRUISER PRODUCTS .jUNK IF iV EVER SEEN IT.. The mpg last year was in the 18mpg at 60-65 Over the time I got to lookin under the chassie, I built a spoiler out of the plastic lawn diver, used brackets I made . Did not cut up car . I went from last years 18mpg to last sun 19.21mpg. Yes I know you may think I am b/s you. Not true. The WURTH-IT RACK has been good. All in all I have been enjoying my 57.

Grandpaws rack

Good to see your post and hear you are enjoying your car... that is really important. I had commented on your problems with Gearheads and am glad the rack is working good for you. I had put a newer 605 in my 55 and it worked fine. Soooo, not wanting to leave well enough alone, I did the Cavalier rack. Bit of a battle but now in.

I will be taking it out next week as it doesn't track as well as the Saginaw box, and the loss of turning radius is not acceptable. The rack has a heavy feel compared to the box so that is another reason to dump it. I guess I was doing ok and should have left well enough alone...but ya know I just like to try stuff and see if it can be better. Of course the rack was better than the stock stuff, but I hope someone can find a better rack to use. One with more travel and a shaft angled more toward the steering column.
