Damn, That's a whole lotta typin'. If you want to come to Chicago to glass my Streetbeasts Vert, just say so!
Seriously, we haven't crossed that bridge yet, our welder is playin' the absent game and holding up our progress. We love what we're doing, we just don't have the know how and mid build isn't the time to start learnin'. Jay K. |

Yes it was and I just passed typing, almost 50 years ago. Well if you get your welder fixed, and know how to weld, you can get the frame done. Just measure twice and cut once and you have it made. One thing about working with fiberglass is if you don't like it glass it up and do it over. You have to learn sometime and a glass car is, to my way of thinking a lot easier than steel. I don't know how far you are on your car, but you have to come up with a plan, lay it out and check it off as you go. I never did go much with the book they gave you to put the car together, did look at it once in awhile, but most of the time we went with the check list we made up. I also don't know how many street rods you have built, so maybe you have to go by the book.
I started building cars when I was 12 years old, and I mean building one, not helping my dad, he was not into cars. I( also worked in a junk yard when I was 12, so getting cars or bodies was not a problem. That was in 1956, so of course the new cars were 56, my job , cut cars up, and you can guess how many would be street rods I cut up. I did set the nice 30'S cars aside, so I had an endless supply. Well just take your time, cars are not built in a day by one or two guys having fun, and really that's what this is all about, having fun learning about cars bench racing and having a good feeling at the end of the day knowing you are building a car. Later and just get her done 35terraplane |

The welder is back online and to answer your question, this is the first time my father and I have ever tackled a project this big. I have a build thread going on this forum under the title of "streetbeasts build starts" and we'll be updating next week as I've been down studying for exams. Thanks for the response, Jay K. |

Father son project & Streetbeasts Liquidation Auction
Congrats on gaining some good times during the build!
Yesterday, the Streetbeasts Liquidation Auction ended with only about 1/2 of the items being sold, with the proceeds going to the Bankruptcy Trustee. Did anyone get Jon that commemorative Coffee Pot? |

last Beast
My Streetbeast Willys arrived. Probably the last 41 Willys they produced. I'm having a local builder look it over next week. I paid $2,500 extra for a tilt front. They bolted the old hood to the fender section and hey!, a single piece tilt front. the edges are uneven, cracked and chipped. No way to repair without taking it apart. The fenders are badly tweeked and won't sit down against the body. It's headed for the land fill. The trunk lid has no hardware. The door jambs have no latch hardware. No grill ($500.00?), no head lights, no wiring harness, no tail lights, no carpeting, no headliner material; etc. etc.. All of which was paid for. Also no radiator that I paid $780.00 extra for. The body was supposed to be sanded to 400 grit, nope. I'm also expecting $1,950 for overpayment on a front end that was canceled due to the closing of the company and no time to order and install. I know Bob Southern did all he could. I believe Bob is a good man and wanted to do all he could to deliver a good car. It just didn't happen. The money due? We'll see. Well, I could give up but I'm going to try and salvage this mess.
What has happened to our country? Why does this tpye of thing happen everywhere? No pride, no honesty or fair play? Just greed, lies and selfishness. What can I say? Hope all of you are well and let's hope for a better year; and our Warriors safe return from overseas. |

Unfortunately alot of guys won't even bother to throw out ten bucks. That's OK. The money will eventually have to come from somewhere. When the advertising appears all over the board because Jon needs to make up the coin, these same guys will be the biggest complainers about it. Hopefully some other members will step up as well. |

Do the GM 215 heads LOOK identical to the stock heads? Will the stock manifolds work? In California it has to look stock to stand a chance without going through a "referee"
Thanks for your quick response/ |
