updating my 53 customline rear axle
 

was wondering if anyone could help.i have a 53 customline with original rear axle and im wanting to update/upgrade to a rear axle that has disc brakes and a better highway gear ratio.anyone know if i can use a mustang or a Lincoln rear axle or ? thanx for your help.

Yes, you can use one of them as long as the total width will work with the wheels that you want to use. The bolt pattern on the axles will be different. Swapping a rear end into something with leaf springs is pretty simple.
