Wondering if he could use the PROM from 95 standard trans for his engine mgmt & then use the shiftmatic or other contoller the trans he chooses to go with.IIRC,the only signal from the manual trans would be the VSS.Not sure if it would be doable,but,in theory,it sounds good.LOL.

Thanks Guys for all the info, I still am a little confused but I will look for a shop that has done the conversion to a 4l80e.

Don't take this wrong but you need a 2500 truck so you can pull your trailer.

"just swappin in a 4l80e" is way more than just bolting it to the back of the engine. You will need to split the transfer case and swap in a 32 spline input so your new 4l80e can bolt to the case. Not sure on the length but this could introduce the need for nodding a couple drive shafts. We haven't even got to controlling it with the computer.

You can pick up a 96-99 k2500 burb for way less $ and hassle. Then you get a BBC, the 4l80e, a full floating 14 bolt rear and the bigger brakes. Just way simpler.
