Upgrade to power windows

Hi. I have a 66 Chevy Caprice with manual crank windows and want to convert to power windows. Has anybody done this on a car with curved side glass using aftermarket components? I've seen a coupla power window sites but would like to hear some first hand info. I don't want to spend the time looking for old factory stuff that may or may not work. Thanks.

Dick

Dont use the kits that have a flexible shaft that just attach over the original crank shaft. I had one that went out in about a year. Cant help with suppliers for what you need though...

I second that what kristkustoms said don't use the adapto cable drive ones. They are crappy.
Try Specialty Power Windows in Georgia. They have some universal kits that can be installed in a car with curved glass. I think the power wonder lift will work in that application. (#pwl 2C) You may be able to get their gear drive unit to work in that application. (#2416 U) The gear drive is a little more positive as far as window stability.
Here is a linkhttp://www.spwkits.com/streetrodkits.htm
I have used their products in many cars since 1987 and have never had a problem . I use their cable drive windshield wiper kits also. The quality is excellent and all of it is made in America using GM parts where ever possible. Hope this helps, mikey

I have a friend that has probably installed 25 of the electric life kits. Very good quality product.
