Does anyone out there know where I can get an upgraded(strengthened) gears for the saginaw four speed for the V-8's. I heard on one of these threads they were available but saginaw replacement parts suppliers I've contacted on the net don't answer questions for some reason. I'd appreciate any help on this as any munci M21 or 22 you'll find here is totally dogged and real expensive in junk condition. My understanding is some saginaw replacement gears are stronger powder metal pieces, just a more modern fabrication process that delivers a better product, but, it's only heresay(on the net). I always liked the saginaw tranny's,had good luck with all I had.

The only Saginaw gears I know of being re-popped are the 3speed input/clusters that all the short track guys use. As far as the Muncie stuff; its very hard to compete with the junk from India. Theres no way visually to convince most guys that a quality gear made in Italy is worth 20percent over the same visually appearing gear made in India or China. All Trans in Portland (now Transtar) seems to have a consistent product for an M20 with say a 350hp SBC in a street car (not a 10second street car, a REAL street car). If you want quality Muncie gears, you have to go to a M22 or M22Wide. The reason is that the lions share of performance guys have more than 400hp and require the strength the M22 platform provides. ADDITIONALLY; the worst part of a Muncie is the flyweight aluminum/potmetal case. A person really needs to evaluate their Aluminum case before investing in a quality gearset. A worn out case eats gears.

I'd appreciate any help in this area.
