Are you talking about cloth fabric? There are all kinds of products to change the color of leather and vinyl, and they work very well. I have seen claims that some products will re-color carpet and fabric, but it's more to "refresh" a color, not to make a radical color change.

Here's a video of a product called Simply Spray . They're recoloring a tan cloth interior black.

That's interesting, but I would still be skeptical as far as longevity is concerned. I can see re-coloring hard plastic, but anything flexible scares me. What does this stuff cost?

Never mind, it's $16 a can, and on their web site they say it "restores color". You may be able to go from light to dark, but probably not dark to light.

Eventually I wan't to reupholster the '91 Dodge Caravan center seat I'm using in my deuce. But for now I'm just going to have to "recolor" it black and wait till I have the time to teach myself how to recover it. ;-)

So far I've removed the arm rest and used a vinyl repair kit to fix the arm rest hole (not visible in this pic), that stuff worked very well by the way. Next I will be recoloring the vinyl black and I'll be using one of the fabric recoloring kits to color the fabric black as well. Currently its blue and the fabric and foam are in good condition so I'm hoping I'll wind up with a black seat that I can use for two or three years till I have the time to teach myself auto upholstery.
