I've painted my accessories with a spray can : Rust-Oleum “Gloss Protective Enamel” 7747 Sunburst Yellow and they look bright and shiny.

Since these parts are subject to getting fuel and grease on them I'm trying to figure out how to protect them. After reading a whole mess of threads here I'm thinking of putting a urethane clear coat over my paint. I don't have a professional paint setup so do i have to take it to a body shop or does someone make spray can urethane for me to do it at home?

If you google "2k urethane clear aerosol can" without the quotes you will get a bunch of manufacturers and distributors to pick from.

It is a REAL urethane clear that I have tried and it acts just like the "real thing" shot from a gun. I am concerned though about spraying anything over your rustolium, there is a good chance it is going to lift. Get it warm and don't spray it on too heavy until it has a few coats, then spray it a little wetter. But testing it would be highly recommended. Problem is, that clear is $20 a can.

Thanks I'll do that. $20 doesn't sound so bad and might even be cheaper than a body shop, unless I can convince them to do my small parts when they're doing one of their cars. I'll do the search and I'll check local shops this week. Thanks again!

Most likely it will lift enamel. You have very short period of time when you can shoot clear over enamel and get away with it. Usually no more than a couple of hours.

So what are my options then? Keep repainting them every time the parts get ugly or is there another treatment I can give them?
