Urgent drum identification help needed-Ford 9" diff!

Working on an old Hotrod with a 9" Ford diff, I CAN NOT find drums for it, I've got the poor parts guy beating his head against a wall, must have sent me a dozen drums-they are either the wrong size bolt pattern or the drum is too small, or not as wide as this one.

Its 11" drum, 2.5" shoes, double scalloped and aprox 4.5" tall, numbers on the drum are "MW 37456R D60A 1126 A"

I googled the part number and got nothing.

Its a 28 spline axle, 5x41/2 bolt pattern, 2 3/4 centering hole, uses a sealed axle bearing, #RW207CCRA

I want this damn thing off my hoist, took me 3 days to find an axle, sign.

I found a drum that fits but larger bolt pattern, if I can't find anything in a few hours, going to redrill the bolt pattern.

Thanks.

Simon

Look it up for an early 80 f100 they had 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern

We just tried that, 11" has the large bolt pattern.

Thanks, looks close, I guess the double scallop doesn't matter?

The listing says 2 1/4 shoe, mine are 2 1/2"?

Technical Help with Ford/Edsel 9" differential [Archive] - THE H.A.M.B.

I found this on a google search looks

If you get lucky the tag will still be on the 3rd member and from that we might be able to tell just where the rear came from and from there get the correct drums..But then who knows what has happened in the past..

My bad, shoes are 2 1/4 wide, but some more google searching, came up with a few options, most are discontinued locally so I just got the 74 Lincoln Mark IV drums and I will redrill the bolt pattern.

turbovanman 09-20-2012 06:15 PM

Well there goes that plan, the drums I thought would fit don't. Looks like the diff could be out of a 72 Lincoln Mark IV or a mid 50's Edsel, :(

Not sure what to do, I need some drums, these thing are so done there done.
