There would have to be a listing sewn in at that seam and hog ringed down, or held down in some other way to hold that area in position.

hi guys , yeah there are three 4mm thick wires in the seat , two run front to back and one runs across the front of the seat where the diamonds meet the smooth panel . the wires slide into a fabric tubing called calico tubing over here in the uk , , molded into the foam seat cushion are steel rods that the wires hook onto. ive added a knee roll on theses seats thats how ive got the profile also. cheers ade

A friend went to a shrink some years ago. The dr told hom to start knitting - straightened his head out.

Have to say, your work is amazing! Definitely convinced me to add diamond pleats to my project.

Perhaps a dumb question but are you cutting the foam first or simply sewing straight into it like Don Taylor's book? I've noticed that some people seem to cut the pattern into the foam first, wondering if that makes it last longer as this will be going into my daily driver.

Also, one of your threads mentioned "setting the piping." I was wondering what you meant by that. How are you getting it to line up just so?

Thanks and once again very impressive work. Hoping my adventures come out similar.

Cheers,
Dan

One last question, looks like you are marking out your patterns on the foam. Are you doing that, gluing the vinyl on, and then sewing foam side up (facing the needle)?

No, you don't need to cut the sew foam at all. Glue the vinyl to the sew foam, mark out whatever lines you are going to sew, and then sew the lines in. You'll need to have a pattern for the parts you are going to sew the diamonds on.
