Using HEET fuel tretment as an octane booster??

Has anyone ever heard of using HEET fuel treatment to boost an octane rating? I had a guy tell me that when he goes to the local drag strip here he adds two bottles of HEET to 87 octane gas to boost the octane in his fuel saying that its the cheapest way to go. I think this sounds goofy.. what do you guys think??

HEET is mostly methanol according to their MSDS. Sta-Bil, their manufacturer does make Octane 104 - which may (or may not work). This is naphthalene and benzene - but a pint in 10 or more gallons.....??

BEWARE of the octane bosters ,they say they will raise your octane x amount of points, seven for example, one would think that it would make 87 into 94 octane where in reality it brings 87 up to 87.7 octane.

Ahh, but consider the benefits of fluids containing methanol, which include windshield washer fluid, heet, denatured alcohol and others, using them with a water/methanol injection system! Read the tech sections here:

http://www.alcoholinjectionsystems.com/

Water injection systems alone create substantial octane/hp increases, and have been around since WW-II in the Pratt-Whitney aircraft engines. Add a percentage of several different alcohols and it's even more impressive.
