Using SB2 pistons in a 400 block

I've got a set of dyno time only SB2 dished pistons manufactured by CP. Here's the story: I bought these from a fellow years ago off the Racing Junk website. He advertised them as 400 SBC forged dished pistons. When they arrived, it was apparent they were for an SB2 motor, although they were in exceptional shape. I failed at getting my money back so I got stuck with them. I've determined that they are the correct compression height for a 400 with 6" rods and in mock up they easily cleared my valve with the cam I want to use. Question is will the flame travel be so convuluted that it won't run? Any thoughts?

I'll post pics to show the strange combustion shape when my camera charges.

Ayuh,.... What's a SB2 piston,..??

If it fits the bore, 'n is of the right pin height,... I'd think it'd work...

Dependin' on the dish, it may promote good Quench, 'n provide a decent flame pattern......

SB2

SB2.2

If the valves dont hit the pistons, the odd combustion chamber shape wont matter. What is the compression ratio?

The valves needed a little clearancing. I don't know the final compression ratio for sure because I haven't finalized gasket thickness but it's about 10:1.

Here is a pic of the actual piston tops. Since the SB2 valve arrangement is different from SBC, I had to take some extra time mounting the pistons on the rods but it all worked out.
