using a trans cooler for a gas cooler?

so heres one of my crazy thoughts. using an aluminum trans cooler as a gas cooler mounted several inches in front of radiator, after mechanical fuel pump and before carb.

is there going to be any gains in performance or efficacy, or would it be a wast of space.

I would think that the mechanical pump gets warm and the outside air would cool it down before the carb. since the carb is warm even with a spacer. of course winter and summer would be different, but definitely no where near the aluminum can with dry ice.

My thoughts are this is a disaster in the making. Besides that there will be no real benefit from a performance standpoint, the dangers involved w/putting a fuel source in front of the engine and fan is not anything I could ever condone. Imagine the results when something was kicked up off the roadway and into the fuel cooler, piercing it- while you're tooling down the freeway at 75 mph. Or even a low speed front end collision. No thanks!

Besides the safety factor, fuel needs to be cooled a lot lower than ambient temperature.....When they use to use cool cans, they would put ice in them
