Using Van's rear windshield wiper to rep vac

I am working on a 47 Studebaker truck with vacuum windshield wipers.
I was wondering if I could replace them with two minivan rear wipers.
Can the sweep be shortened - (I have a split windshield)?
If it can be done what other problem do I have to overcome and consider?
Also is there a recommended brand/make to use.
Thanks
Paul

Being separate, they would be a pain to operate....I would think.

I used a VW bug unit in my 51 Ford F1.........I had to shorten the arm a little, just brazed it.........2 speeds work, but the homing feature, I never could figure that out......but, they have been on there for 10+ years without a problem.

Paul.

1) if original is a linkage system to the wiper arm shafts shafts with a single vacumn motor, you can repace with a single electric motor. If so, the sweep can be set by the length of the arm you will have to fasten onto the motor output shaft. the sweep cannot be changed internally on the motors transmision.

2) the dodge and chrysler mini-vans from 1986 up have nice small torky single speed motors....

I pulled one from a late 90's chev Geo hatchback car to use in my Anglia, it is a nice small unit...

3) I think I recall seeng on the newport engineering website a system for split screens like yours....that may be your only option...
