the block is an old 0010 casting and I am running a long water pump, thanks for any help guys.. The junkyards around here are completely stripped clean of any 350 stuff.
The pulley you linked will work for the crankshaft, it is for a long water pump set-up.
There are a couple different styles of power steering pump brackets for the long water pump, both use the same pump but bolt up somewhat differently to either the water pump bolt boss or to the front of the head...and both styles have different brackets on the adjuster side that bolt to the bracket bolted on with the exhaust manifold bolts. Pumps for long water pump sets are all the same however. Differences in steering pump brackets seems to be '69-77 type(matched to axial AC pump years) and '78-87 (matched to radial AC pump years).
Somewhere around '78-79 GM went to O-ring flare instead of inverted flare on the hose connections, so be aware of that.
If you want good custom steel brackets check out Alan Grove Components, they make about every bracket combo imaginable.
Okay so next question.. I understand that the power steering pumps are the same but there is some variance on brackets. Do the different brackets place the power steering pump in the same location for belt alignment? Or do the different brackets place the pump in different locations messing with pulley alignment?
The water pump you're using will dicate everything else. The SBC used three different length pumps short, meduim, long. The short (5-5/8ths) is generally used for engines before 1968 the long (6-3/4qtr) thereafter. The medium (5-3/4qtr) is a unique Corvette only used on some but all models. The pump length establishes which crankshaft pulleys will be used as well as the combination of accessories to be driven. This all has to be worked out first before the question of brackets can be addressed. Short water pumps require additional brackets that fasten to the long sides of the heads or the exhaust manifold/header bolts. Long pumps mount accessories to the front of the heads. Heads prior to 1968 do not have the threaded bolt holes needed for mounting accessories with a long pump these when mixed with the long pump need aftermarket specilaty brackets for forward mounting.
Each of these has unique bracketry in terms of what and where the accessories bolt up but second to that are diffrences by model that require things be moved around for installation clearance and convienience. The alternator may be high or low and may be right or left. The power steering pump is usually low to the left (driver's side). Air conditioning compressor is usually high to the right (passenger side).
So to go deeper we would need to know which coolant pump and what heads at a minimum.
How about making it a little easier and tell us what Make, model, and year this power steering pump, pulley and brackets is for. Most likely the belt will be different lengths if brackets are different.
Define cheap. What's you're budget? Also keep in mind the application in regards to the ratio. If you're not going to be using this engine in traffic or running AC, then 1:1 pulleys will be fine, but the stock ratios will be fine also.
I picked up both of these for less than $70, but you don't need the belts as your belt length is dictated by the alt and p/s pump locations. FWIW, I have a wood crate full of different pulleys that I can mix and match to get what I'm after depending on what size crank opulley I'm running, but it's a collection that's been growing for quite some time
Thanks guys, I pulled a power steering pump/bracket assembly and crank pulley off of a 1983 chevy 305ci engine today. I mocked everything up and it all seems to line up... the rest of the acc. are from 1969 original to the block.
I also wanted to note something about SBC water pumps. GM uses an odd ball length water pump for the vortec engines.
So they come in long, short, medium(corvette), and also a Vortec engine size.
I know this because I have a vortec 383 and couldn't for the life of me find a STEWART pump made for my application. They do not offer a water pump that will align with the vortec pulleys.

I'm not familiar with a v-belt Vortec configuration. Perhaps in the aftermarket, but not in the stock form.
So wait are you saying that the water pump for the vortec 350 engine is the same length as a normal long water pump?
I did not believe this to be true as I looked all over for a water pump that would line up with my vortec acc. I should have clarified that the vortec 383 I am speaking of is a different engine of mine and I do run serpentine and I do understand that requires a reverse rotation pump. I am also aware of the bypass hole but I was under the impression that this water pump is somewhere in between a long and short pump....
I called STEWART and they stated that they do not make a water pump for the vortec 350 engine.
Ya I dunno, I didn't have the means to pull the clutch off of the pump at the moment but I measured and it appeared to be somewhere around 6-3/4", hard to tell with the fan pulley and fan still on though. The pump has been working great and I don't really have a reason to change it it's brand new but I'm just saying I gave up on trying to find a aftermarket water pump online because it seems that none are listed to work with the vortec engine, I thought this was due to an odd ball length not just that's it reverse rotation and has an extra bypass hose fitting. Ended up just buying an autozone unit but I could have sworn it measured different than the others, prbly just my imagination.
