V6 Timing Issues and TDC, misc questions..
I just got done replacing the timing chain cover gasket, oil pan gasket and misc gaskets on my Regal's V6..
Now, i had to take out the distributor and the only thing i marked was the base of the distributor to the engine block nothing else..
First time i installed the distributor it was seated properly and therefore didnt connect to the oil pump stem.. My ******* didnt realize it and i cranked teh car for a few seconds (the car turned over and ran fine but was making a bad sound and little smoke) So i knew somthing was up, tore it down and found that out..
So i refound TDC using a screwdriver, watching it go up and down...
Question: Is top dead center when the piston is at the VERY top, or when its about to BE at the very top?
I ended up refinding TDC, reseating the dist, etc.. pointed to plug 1.
It wouldnt catch a spark and run, just kept building up fuel in the carb and causing little carb backfire. I tried turning the dist assembly a little left and right but it still wouldnt catch and run...
So now i got it torn down again, waiting on a good idea and what i should do..
