V6 to V8

I have a 86 El Camino with the V6 engine and would like to swap out with Chevy V8 maybe all Corvette if possible. I don't know if this is doable in California and what I am in for when I go to do it. Any suggestions or information, suggestions would be useful.

Assuming you have the 4.3 V6, the V8 bolts right in its place. Maybe change the fan shroud and a few other minor odds and ends and you're V8ing.

It is the 4.6

The automatic tranny has 98K on it - would like to beef up all running gear also. Do you know of any websites where I can get detailed info?

Want performance and economy on the road, bolt in a 200R OD automatic. Bolts right in with a little modification to the transmission mount crossmember.
