Sorry I do not have any pictures of his finished bug, but here are some before it was painted. I hope they load. Because I can't say I know how to do it. IF anyone knows how to post pictures please let me know. Who know I may get lucky and post them.

Quick update...
I worked on the rear fenders some more this weekend. I sanded down the first layer of bondo, tapped in some of the high spots and filled in some of the visible low spots. So far it seems like they'll come out decent. The shape is pretty much there, but there's a little filling and tapping here and there that needs to be done. And more sanding of coarse. Another weekend or two and I should be finished with them. This time I used a file to knock down and shaped the bondo as suggested. These first three pictures are after sanding down the first layer. ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's where I'm at after sanding down the second coat of bondo. Still a lot more work to do but it's getting there. ![]() ![]() ![]()

This weekend I had enough time to finish the passenger side fender. Now I need to remove it and smoothen out the mounting edge. The removal should be fun.

Mate that rear fender looks really great.
I really like your build, I can't believe how much progress you're making on it, all by yourself. I think I will be asking for your advice the more my build moves along. It's not a bug though 1963 Pontiac Parisienne. Just simply fixing the bodywork and so on...Sorry don't wanna hijack your thread. Keep the pictures flowing! |

Hey Blob,
Glad to see you've made it back to this forum. Thanks for the compliments. I must say your bug was an inspiration to me as I started my build. I've seen your build up pics, and it going through some of the changes it has, from the 283 to the LS1, but I didn't know you've added a turbo too! Awesome! I'm still working away on my build. It won't be until late next year when I have mine on the road, I hope, if not sooner. It's getting there though. Body work is taking some time. It'll be fun once it's finished though! BTW, drop by www.v8bugs.com, you'll find quite many people building V8 bugs. A few of which are using the same chassis design yours is based on, prostreet (glass station build). If you get a chance post a little something about your build. I've posted some pictures of your but I'm sure it's that much cooler hearing from the builder. |

Quick little update.
The fenders released quite easily. I went back and sanded down / smoothed out the seam edge, not pictured. ![]() ![]() I did manage to work on the driver's side fender, but didn't quite "finish" shaping it. It needs a little more filler to smooth it out. I'll post pictures once I've finished shaping it. I'm still sitting on the fence about whether or not to shave the bumpers on my beetle. I prefer the deleted bumper look, but I'm worried somebody might bump me one day just tear up the body of my car. Hmmm... This is really the last thing I need to sort out body work wise. |

Some more body work...
I pretty much have the driver's side rear fender done. Now I just need to remove it and smoothen the edges, but the hard work is over. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Just a little more work and I'll be ready for some high build primer. I'll have to have me a sanding get together and invite my buddy's over to sand down the body to get rid of the 40 grit marks. |

The Fender shape you have achieved there is really on the button as regards the beetles 1930's styling. Well done!

Shaved the bumper holes this weekend, but still more to do. So, yeah, decided to go bumperless.
Tack welded in filler strips. So much easier with a mig. ![]() ![]() Then I ground the tacks down flush. ![]() Filled with bondo and block sanded with 40 grit until flush. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I didn't get a chance to finish the rear passenger fender cause my bro showed up ready to drink some beer and play the wii. Sometimes free time is hard to find...but was fun nonetheless. Still have to finish that one fender and remove a couple of them so I can block sand the seam edge flush. |
