Leave it to Chrysler to take a Ford engine and make something useful out of it.

Welcome to the board!

re: V8/60 FORD "ARDUN" HEMI

Duece and Centerline,

thanks for the warm welcome!...

when I saw this cutie for the 1st time I became obsessed...
The block has been updated from the FORD design, beefier main webbing, modern front cover/waterpump arrangment, and it has no INTAKE or EXHAUST ports! ..also uses a traditional bell housing vs the cast into block type.

I think this engine would be awesome in a little roadster...

OOPS!
thats supposed to be 3.465" stroke....

Parts can be found, takes some searching...I have good connections (in-laws)
we found a few more complete motors, some misc. parts and a full gaskets set

Neat engine, I'ne heard of a Simca V8, but didn't know what it was like. I'm curious in WHAT way it is based on a V8-60? You acknowledge that it has a different block, which would be the only part that it could be based on, and the V8-60 has a 3.20 stroke. Doesn't sound too much like any of the V8-60's I'ne worked on.

re: V8/60 FORD "ARDUN" HEMI

The Brazilian Block has much in common with its US brothers.
Bore size, bore spacing, crank journal size, rod journal size, same rods!.. This motor evolved from the French V8-60,the French engines have "stroker" cranks...so the Brazilain engines inherited those too...
The headbolt pattern is the same (-2 head bolts on each side)
cylinder heads easily convert to US V8/60's

ARDUN heads designed by Zora ARkus DUNtov, of Corvette fame.

re: V8/60 FORD "ARDUN" HEMI

Correct....very very similar.
However. ARDUN was made famous for his heads for the V8/85 (24 stud engine) He made about 300 of those....He also made heads for the little V8/60! but only about 30pr. The Brazilian heads are a better design and quality,in my opinion.
50's literature says the Ardun V8/60 is 105hp
this engine is 140hp in stock form..

re: V8/60 FORD "ARDUN" HEMI

Jim,
I haven't been able to find out if there is a US made trans that fits the bell housing,...in fact I am trying to get a transmission shop that can ID the trans by bolt pattern...I left the original trans in Brazil 'cause it was a 3 speed

Where can you get an engine like this?? From me ....I am importing the engines and parts. E-mail me and I will give you the details.

I did the easy part....finding the motor. My wife did the hard work...export from Brazil,It would never have happened with out her help.

I gotta say..my in-laws are AWESOME!!
I went to Brazil in 2001,didnt speak a word of Portugese...but everyone made me feel very welcome...I had a blast...went go-cart racing a bunch of times, went to see the F1 track Interlagos, saw some Brazilain stockcars,...etc. Just lucky some of my wifes cousins a "gearheads" Also her father was a "test pilot" for Willys back in the day...
