V8 into hombre, need guidence

Im in the market for a small truck but need something that will be able to tow and not make me bored as hell while driving it. My choice of truck is going to be a mid 90's isuzu hombre.

What I would like from you guys is some guidence. This will be my get around daily driver so I dont want anything too nuts. I was thinking a chevy 305? This will be my first "hot rod" so I need all the help I can get. Links, advice, product recommendation, its all welcome here. Ill keep doing research but I hope I can get some help. Thanks in advance!

The more I think about it, the more Im actually leaning to a 6 cylinder. More economical (which I want) and not gobs of power. In a light weight truck those tires will spin very easy, and this thing will see alot of snow in the winter.

Im open for ideas.

I need help finding a guide to swap either a 6 cylinder or small V8 into a 94-97 hombre. I would prefer to stay fuel injected. Any information would be appreciated.

Hombres almost identical to a s10 when it comes to a v8 swap. most of the differnce is the body panels.
