Two things can happen when more vacuum advance is added.

1. the little wires on the mag pickup leads are intermident creating a misfire when the vac adv moves them.

2. The cap/rotor phasing alignment is effected by vac advance movement.
If the rotor/cap alignment (when the spark fires) gets to far out of wack a misfire/crossfire occurs.
(more) vac adv moves the cap/rotor alignment out of aceptable range.

Correct the rotor/cap/mag pickup phasing alignment and limit vac adv travel.
