vacume advance or mechanical advance?

question I have access to a high dollar mechanical advance distributor for next to nothing is it worth useing on a stock to mild bigblock chevy in a streetrod not a drag car?

You could use it but gas mileage, spark plug, and oil life will suffer and the engine may run hot at cruise and low speeds because of the lack of vacuum advance. There is no good reason to go without vacuum advance, only good reasons to use it.
