Vacuum Gauge reading, can you help me interpet them?
Tonight I went out and hooked up my new vacuum gauge to the back of the carb, I was reading about 19.5 inches after the engine came up to temp. I did notice that it would bounce slightly between 19 inches and 19.5 inches. I read somewhere that it should read steady and it if bounced around it could be timing or carb out of adjustment.. Which should I check first?
If I need to adjust the timing what the easiest way to do it with an HEI with out getting bit? Regards Mark

Hey thanks for the link. I had been trying to figure out why the needle would vibrate at idle the get steady with rpm increase. Worn valve guides, GREAT! Had some rockers loose and adjusted them some what fixed the fluctuation. Thanks again!
