Hi,

I'm going to shoot the Valspar DTM 2K Primer this weekend. I downloaded the spec sheet and have a question. This is an Epoxy type primer going over mainly bare metal.

The Mixing Ratio:
Mis four (4) parts DTM 2000 series primer to one (1) part DTM A activator and reduce with one (1) part reducer for sealing.

Question is this... If I'm spraying on mostly bare metal does that mean I'm using it as a sealer?

Also what do I use to reduce it? I only have the primer and activator.

Did you spray this already? I thought, but don't quote me, that you mixed it 4:1 for bare metal and then 4:1:1 for high-fill.

thanks 1meancuda. I didn't spray yet, but you're correct. I looked into some more and it was my error. I'm new to this and didn't get the "sealer" lingo. Sealer is before paint... now it makes send. Thanks!

Let me know how it goes once you spray it. I've been looking around for some on-line and can't find it anymore. Maybe I'm not looking correctly though.

I tried to spray yesterday, but having trouble setting up my gun (see new post on Setting Air on HVLP). I bought it locally at West Whittier Paint in CA.

I'll let you know how it goes tonight. I'm probably not going to spray tonight, but hopefully will get the gun squared away.
