700r4 torque
Tighten it one quarter turn before yanking the aluminum threads out of the case!! Listen to Crosley on this one, I don't know how many times I've pulled trannys apart to find the threads of the case stuck on the bolt! Use that torque wrench starting from the inside and going out.

You really should try to find a 0-150 inch pound dial type torque wrench. Or at the very least an inch pound click style torque wrench.
You would be amazed at how inaccurate click type torque wrenches really are. Where I work I all of our torque wrenches have to be checked for calibration every 30 days. Clickers are the worst because people actually tend to pull a few foot pounds over the actual torque the wrench clicks at. At the very least you want to find a torque wrench where your desired torque is somewhere in the middle of the range of the torque wrench, clicker type wrenches are not very accurate at the extreme upper and lower ends of their ranges. Also, you should exercise (click it) the wrench at about 80% of max capacity several times before use. I had to check the torque on a 30-150 ft lb torque wrench and it was clicking about 5 ft lbs high until it was exercised six times or so. Dial torque wrenches dont need to be exercised and you can see exactly how much torque you are pulling and with such a small torque on aluminum threads it's very important to know what your torque is. |
