Correct. The cooling system is completely different. So is front of block. No coolant thru the front/rear of the head/intake manifold.
Heads are useless on earlier blocks.
This area (Flint) was where they were originally produced and several hundred "escaped" from the factory. I have seen pipe threads tapped into the front of the heads bypassing into the intake manifold. Entire front welded up and then drilled for conventional cooling, etc. All in vain, as the heads overheat internally and won't work.
