valve covers won't clear stud girdle!

I have a 468 with B&B stud girdles on it and I got some Summit brand tall aluminum valve covers but the valve covers wont clear the stud girdle. I think the bolts/poly locks on the stud girdle are the reason. what does everyone else that runs stud girdles on similar sized engine use with stud girdles?

I'm going to return the summit ones and I ordered these Dart covers that might work. Anybody used them or know if they will fit? at the very least, i could grind them a little since there steel and not alum if they still don't fit.

No baffles, no breathers, no grommets, I'd pass on that.

ok well i tried some Dart valve covers that are supposed to clear stud girdles but they didn't because of the baffles. I would take them off but then I couldn't return them if they didn't fit. Anybody else running stud girdles?

Does the cover hit the girdle bars, or the top of the rocker arm nuts??

You usually have to run the girdle as low as you can get it to the rocker arm body's while still clearing them to keep the rounded upper corners of the valvecovers from hitting the girdle bars. From the looks of your pictures you could lower the girdle bars an 1/8" or maybe more.

On a different issue, you may have trouble with the intake to head seal with the Permatorque Blue intake gasket you are using. It's material conformability is made for iron intakes to iron heads and tends to leak after a period of use with aluminum intakes. Correct gaskets for use with aluminum intakes would be from the Fel-Pro Print-o-Seal line, Edelbrocks own brand line, or Mr Gasket. These three are all fiber based gaskets with a silkscreened silicone bead on them.
