Valve Lash

With an iron block, how much should you subtract from an iron head, cold lash setting to get the cold setting with aluminum heads?

The cold setting for iron heads is: .016/.020.

This is when using 1.5 rockers. How much should I add, if anything, for using 1.6 rockers?

Thanks in advance.

There is a easy way for you to determine this for yourself.

start with a baseline cold lash setting (dead cold) that is .004" to .006" tighter than the hot lash setting.

Run the engine up to full operating temp (You have to take it out and drive it)
And then quickly check the hot lash on a few cylinders.
before the cylinder heads and valves cool off.
Hot means hot. Note the difference between true cold and hot lash.
Its is generally advised to not go more looser on the recommended hot lash than .004". You can go quit a bit tighter, on either the cold or hot lash setting.

Varing the lash +/- changes the "running valve duration".

Thanks. I'll do this.
