you dont need to add shims or anything. Read the instructions.There is a certain dimension you add if you use the 1.250 retainers. Im not sure what it is as my Hite-Mic is in the shop and its cold out. Ill look in the morning. That is a real cheap mic. Besides you cant measure any bigger than 1 1/2 retainers and 1.4 to 1.8 installled height Buy one from Goodsons.Bout a hundred bucks.Steel and accurate. Mine is the original Hite-Mic brand.Had it since the70s.
