Valve Spring Pressure

Looking for some recommendations on valve spring pressure I need for a 350 Chevy. Cam is 224/234, .465/.485 lift. Will be running roller rockers and screw in studs on a set of ported 416 heads.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Most cam mfg's will recommend the proper valve spring for their cam. If you know who made the cam and have the part number then call the cam company and they will give you the valve spring specs. You will also have to check your heads for coil bind with that much lift...should be ok but still need to check because not checking could be very expensive. Mt Edelbrock heads had Valve spring specs of 120 lbs. closed and 320 lbs. open....just as an example.

Assuming a flat tappet cam, I would use something like these....

Howards, Performance Street/Strip Valve Springs, Hyd. FT
Hydraulic/Mechanical Flat Tappet
Style: Single with Damper
O.D.: 1.250
I.D.: .870
Closed Pressure: 115 @ 1.700
Open Pressure: 300 @ 1.250
Rate: 411
Max Lift: .500
Coil Bind: 1.160
Titanium Retainer: 97214
Steel Retainer: 97112, 97132
