[Garbonzo Bojangles]

I'm trying to install 1.44" springs on my Sprotsman II chevy heads. The spring seats are cut out for up to 1.55", but there is a lip around the outer edge that is probably 1.4" in diameter, which also raises the floor around .060". This lip doesn't allow the spring to sit on solid metal at all points, and therefore it can sit a little cooked. I'm worried that this will put unwanted stress on the valve guide. Should I try to get some spring locators or shims or just just install the springs as is? I am NOT going to get this machined though.
