valve springs

the heads i bought from a friend have triple valve springs and the lift capability is .600, the cam im pruchasing is int/exh 300/300 and lift is .518/.530, will the springs work or do i need some different ones?

You will have to have springs tested. Then match to the type of cam you have. Hydraulic flat tappet or roller. Solid flat tappet or roller. Each is different and require specific spring pressures.

yes they do have very good stud girdles!

the cam I'm putting in is a solid flat tappet camshaft

"Triple springs" might be a true triple setup which would be for a roller cam and have way too much pressure for a flat tappet cam or it could be double springs with a dampner which might be ok.

As Bob mentioned I would measure the spring pressure to be sure. Most solid lifter cams in the range you're using require somewhere in the neighborhood of 130# of pressure on the seat. Trying to use roller springs would eat that cam in a hurry.
