can you put chevy 350 valves in a 305

Yes the seats can be reshot for 1.9 and 1.55 350 valves.

so stock valves should work if they are both stock heads

You better check what your local shop charges to do this. Done correctly won't be cheap!!

so it would be eaiser to just get a valve from another 305 head

It isn't just a matter of 305 head or 350 head, they shared some stuff. There are two different intake valve head sizes used on a 305 - 1.72" and 1.84" . There are three different intake valve sizes used on 350 engines - 1.72", 1.94", and 2.02". As you can see, they only overlap on only one size.

The size that is in any particular head is dependant on what the original horsepower application was and not just the cubic inch size of the engine.
