do a compression test , pull all plugs first, squirt some oil in does compression come up if so
it's rings if not valves, if valves take a piece of 1/4 inch new cotton rope and bottom each cylinder one at a time push rope in cylinder, leave a little out. by hand rotate crank till rope hits valves, snug tight. now remove valve keeper and springs, replace valve seal. reinstall springs and keepers move to next cylinder. do same procedure till all eight are done. if engine got extremely hot it comprimises rubber in seals. I went from 1 qt oil every 100 miles to 1 qt every 1000 miles. hope this helps |
