Vega steering in a model a ford
No matter what I try i can't make the vega steering box fit with chevy motor mount. What's best fix? Can I move the box in away from the frame? Change mounts? I need help.
If your doing cross steering... You can mount the box right in front of the motor mount's.. If your using the side motor mount's...
Post a picture of what you have,,Then we maybe able to help you better..
Here's a typical Model A chassis with the vega cross steer setup. These photos may help. In the first you can see the vega box installed and in the second you can see typical SBC motor mounts and where the vega bracket is in relation to them.

Here's a Vega box with a 327 in my Model A. The frame rails are not stock Model A, so this may or may not work for you.
The key to making everything work is to mock up EVERYTHING before you locate ANYTHING. Bolt the front end to the crossmember, set the engine on jack stands with the headers in place, located the body on the frame, mocked up the steering column and then located the steering box.
Also used a Vega box and cross steering on my '27 Model T. Everything is much more crambed together on a T.. they are like 3/4 scale Model A's.
Here is a photo of my Model T during the mock up, notice all the jackstands..
And after everything is tacked in place..
And as it is today...
