Velocity stack air cleaners ok?

I like the look of these air cleaners, but are they good for the engine?
I'm thinking of both the ability to clean the air and how they flow.
This is not the small "flat head type" air cleaner.
The engine is a fairly stock Chevy 350 except an Airgap intake, headers etc.

It's normally not recommended to run a Foam style filter above the carburetor. They will become brittle over time, and debris will fall into your engine.

Thanks for the inputs.

It's just that I like the look of it. Together with a pair of fabricated aluminium valve covers, bandaged headers and removed hood sides on my 34... :pimp:

How about fitting a flat Kn element or something up in that stack?
Just a thought...
