I like the vents in my 54. Here is the rebuild sequence I documented when I did my 54 vent windows. It is so easy you might want to keep yours.

Trying to make the 54 doors into one piece glass style doors is not impossible but does require significant effort. Here is a write up one of the truck rags did some time back on one of these trucks.
