verbal description of raven black as compared to black

I decided about a year ago that i wanted my car to be black, little did i know there are hundreds or shades of black. A friend of mine told me he saw a car that the owner said was raven black, he said it looked awsome, but can't describe what the color looked like other than black

So if anyone could tell me what kind of hues it has or what other colors are added to black to make this paint i would love to hear from you

Thanks

bump from way back

i 've allways wanted a black car, never knew there was so many blacks to choose from

where would i be able to find out what is in the different blacks? And where would i be able to find the differences in different raven blacks as listed below

Raven Black: PPG #9700, 9000, 9300

is there an online anything that would have what colors mix in what amounts for a paint?

someone here ( i think it was "Hot Rod Hellion") posted something about the different shades of black, and he said that the best, most impressively black, one hed ever used was House of Kolor, they use more, and more expensive pigment, the second was PPG raven black. just thought id share, it might be something to look into since a really shiny Black paint-job isn't the cheapest thing out there.

i have a 65 mustang that i really wanted to paint black with gold stripes (gt 350 H sceme) i am a bit of a novice painter but ive recently invested in some semi prof equipment (Inesta 400 gun) my question to the HOK black is, how well does it sand once applied, and how well does the clear sand and polish. what can i add to the clear to get the best depth illusion?

What effect from HOK should i use to get the best Gold stripes??
