Verifying engine pedigree...

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this, but I couldn't find any other which seemed better...
I have a ' Nova SS with a 350 HP 327...It's all original, and I know that a true SS, 350HP/327 is worth a lot more than a clone.
Because of that fact, people will go to great lengths to counterfeit one..
I have the book.."Chevrolet by the numbers and it states "1965 through 1969 engine codes consisted of seven alpha-numeric characters.
The first letter in the engine code designates the engine assembly plant. the next two digits designate the engine assembly month code.If the month code is January through September, the month code will be preceded with a"0" and still remain a two digit code.For example "04" means April."11" means November.
The next two digits after the month code designates the day of the month the engine was assembled. It will always be a two digit number. For example, "14" means the 14th day of the month.
The last two letters of the engine code designate the engine code suffix. The engine code suffix gives the intended application for that engine in the model year that it was built."

My engine code is: F027DZI
F = Flint,Michigan
02 = February
7D = ???????
ZI = 350HP/327 in a '66 Nova

The engine block casting number,3791362, is correct for a '66 Nova 350HP/327
The engine casting date, L 9 5 (Dec 9,1965) fits/
But I can't make any sense out of the "D" after the 7....

Can anybody help me out?

Sorry for the long post, but I felt like a full explanation was required to get an answer..
Thanks, Johnny

Johnnya,,,,, keep checking numbers,, block number 3791362 is also for Camaro 327 cid,,,,,,,,,7D= 67 Camaro 250 hp 2 bolt 327. I'm not saying you may have a clone but i sure would look deeper into the numbers.

You have to watch those numbers man. GM wasn't always very responsible when it came to matching numbers, or for that matter printing the right numbers, in their cars... The numbers could say you have a mishmosh, but the car may still be all original. This doesn't happen very that often but it's possible.

My 400 sbc block doesn't have an assembly plant code, for example.
