Post Vette headers

I am installing headers to side pipes on my sons 75 stingray. We dropped in a 383 stroker and he insisted we use headers instead of stock mans. They fit like a glove.Too close to everything. They are 1/2" from the pitman arm rubber grease cover and would surely burn it.Also they rest against the frame and would ignite the under coat. The rubber body trim beneath the fenders is almost in contact with them also. They are the correct parts but I cannot fire up this new engine before we correct these fire hazards. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Hi Ken,

Unfortunately I don't have any suggestions for you regarding the headers, but I wanted to tell you that your son is really lucky having you help him. I have an uncle who is a mechanic and a father who loved cars as a kid, and can't get either of them to help me troubleshoot on my '66 Chevelle without begging. Very nice of you and you have my respect.

I have hedman headers on my '68 with no problems except it makes an already too low car even lower to the ground. I would try a set of hedman's; the '68 vette is actually smaller than a 75 stingray and I have plenty of room around everything, although it's an interesting challenge getting the starter in and out. and as previously suggested, wrap them. ALWAYS wrap them headers.
