VIN # locations

Does anybody know where all of the VIN #'s are located on a mid 70's Chevy truck/Blazer?

I've heard that there is one on the core support but I have never seen one there.

There is also one under the truck, I think it is on the frame or possibly stamped on the tub.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On the mid 70's (and probably earlier) chevy trucks, there was not a VIN on the dish. There is a plate on the driver side door jam along with a federal sticker. I think there are supposed to be at least 2 more places on the vehicle with the same #.
???Frame and core support???

I went to the DMV to get my truck registered and the federal sticker was missing. They now want me to go to the CHP to have them verify that the # on the VIN plate matches some # under the vehicle. I am trying to find out if it is on the frame or some where else.

This thing needs to look like a mut (# wise) in order for the CHP to sign it off as a 75.

Ever heard the song "One Piece at a Time" by Johnny Cash? It's a 73,74,75, mostly 76,77,78,79,80,81,82,83,84,85,86,87,88,89,90,91 Chevyyyy.

Oh Yeah ... I've sung the Johnny Cash tune, too.
I've worked in the auto parts industry for about 26 years now, and have had to try to get the right parts for some of these ... <cringe> <twitch> <shudder>

I've just sandblasted the frame on my 1966 GMC and did see some numbers on the LH frame ... in the front wheelwell area. I don't recall what those numbers were exactly ... but I don't think they were the SAME as the VIN. I think that all of the digits were numeric. Perhaps they are just the numerical sequence of assembly number, which is usually just the last 5 or 6 digits of the VIN?

MOST states/provinces, I believe, will register the vehicle as being the year that VIN plate says that it is.

I'm attaching a scan of a page from my 65-75 GM Parts Catalog (in 2 different resolutions ... I wasn't sure how big of a file was allowed)
This page "breaks down" your serial number for you.
The note (in case you have trouble making it out) reads:
"On 73-75 C-K Models the [VIN] Sticker is located in the engine compartment on top of the left hand front wheelhouse panel."

"Missing Sticker":
Oh yeah ... I've had morons come walking in with the sticker that they have PEELED OFF of the vehicle in order to get the part they want! Same thing with diff tags, etc.
