VIN number decoding help needed

I have done some searching and can't find a source of info to decode my 53 Chevy 210 4-dr sedan's VIN. The thing is that when I bought the car it had two VIN plates lying loose inside the glove box and I want to make sure if they both refer to the same model car. All I can find on the net is info on Chevy truck VIN's and on cars like Corvettes and Camaros and Chevelles but nothing on Chevy cars in general, especially the 40's and 50's models.

Any valid help will be greatly appreciated!

Have you checked out these sites yet?

This is the '49 - '53 shop manual online:
http://chevy.tocmp.com/1949_53shop/index.htm

Also here is a site dedicated to the '53 Chevy:
http://www.1953chevrolet.com/

I think I have a few others too, I'll have to dig them up from my favourites list. Hope these help in the meantime.

Rich

I must say I like the link to the shop manual. I'm gonna try and download the complete manual from the site. I actually found what I'm looking for at that site at http://chevy.tocmp.com/models/index.htm

I've got the second link but to be honest I totally forgot about it.

Thanks.

Uhm.........Problem here, the serial number tags I got with the car are South African format so I can't properly decode it using the above mentioned resources!

See the attached pic for that. It is However evident that they are for a '53 car. I could however find from the 1069W portion in the number that they are both for a 210-series 4-door car. So, in the end I'm happy. I'll therefore just use the nicer looking tag of the two.
